Our Top 5 Activities on Bonaire
These are our personal favorites, but there's so much more to discover on our beautiful island.
Diving & Snorkeling
|
Diving is one of the main reasons people visit Bonaire. The island's protected coral reef stretches almost entirely along the coastline, creating one of the most beautiful underwater worlds in the Caribbean.
With more than 80 dive sites, most of them accessible directly from shore, Bonaire is the perfect destination for certified divers who want to explore at their own pace. Would you prefer a guided dive or like to try diving for the very first time? Wannadive (PADI) and Private Divers (SSI) are both excellent and reliable dive centers. |
|
Not ready to dive? Bonaire also offers fantastic snorkeling. Swim among colorful coral, tropical fish, and sea turtles at many easily accessible locations, or join a guided snorkeling tour to discover some of the island's hidden underwater gems.
|
Kitesurfing
|
Thanks to its steady trade winds, which blow around 90% of the year, Bonaire is one of the world's best places to learn or improve your kitesurfing skills.
Imagine gliding across crystal-clear turquoise water while sea turtles swim beneath you—and if you're lucky, you might even spot dolphins nearby! The friendly instructors at The Yellow or the Blue Bus are happy to help beginners and experienced riders alike. |
Rent a Boat
|
One of the best ways to experience Bonaire is from the water. Rent a small boat and cruise to Klein Bonaire, explore the coastline, and admire the luxurious waterfront villas from the sea.
Borrow one of our complimentary coolers at Casa Mantana Bonaire, fill it with your favorite drinks and snacks, and enjoy a relaxing day on the Caribbean Sea with a boat from Chogogo Boat Rental. |
Washington Slagbaai National Park
|
Covering nearly 6,000 hectares, Washington Slagbaai National Park is Bonaire's largest nature reserve and one of the island's absolute highlights.
Discover towering cactus forests, aloe fields, dramatic rock formations, salt lakes, sand dunes, rugged coastlines, and beautiful bays perfect for swimming and snorkeling. Pack one of our complimentary coolers with lunch and cold drinks and spend an unforgettable day exploring Bonaire's incredible nature. A suitable vehicle is required to drive the unpaved roads through the park. We'd be happy to arrange a suitable rental vehicle for you through our trusted partner PB carrental. |
Windsurfing
|
Lac Bay (Sorobon) is considered one of the world's finest windsurfing locations. This shallow, reef-protected lagoon offers warm, crystal-clear water and reliable trade winds almost every day of the year.
Whether you're a beginner or an experienced windsurfer, you'll find perfect conditions here. Equipment is available for rent at Jibe City , and after your session you can relax with a cold drink at the nearby Hangout Beach Bar. |
Kayak the Mangroves
|
Bonaire's mangrove forest is one of the island's most unique natural treasures and serves as a nursery for countless fish species, sea turtles and other marine life. Together with an experienced guide from the Bonaire Mangrove Center, you'll explore this remarkable ecosystem on a relaxing one- or two-hour tour. If you choose the extended excursion, you'll also have the opportunity to snorkel through an impressive tunnel of mangrove roots – a unique experience that can only be found in a few places around the world.
